Team Pools - 7th Grade - 2009

For the 7th grade tournament scheduled for Saturday, 2009-09-19, the sixteen participating teams were seeded and grouped into four pools of four teams each. In pool play, each team plays each of the other teams within their pool in "mini-matches" of two sets (or games) to 15 points (no cap). For each of the pools, the following General Match Schedule will be used. The desired but approximate start times are shown in the following table for all pool play "mini-matches".

There are two important bits of information that need to be emphasized:
  1. All of the start times listed above are approximate and teams should be ready to warm-up and play as soon as any previous match is completed. The tournament venue managers will make every attempt to keep all matches on or ahead of schedule.
  2. As stated in several sections of the tournament information document (found here), each team must provide one line-person for every match they play. Simple verbal instructions for performing this duty will be given at the tournament. Except for the two line judges (1 from each team), all other officials and score keepers are provided by the tournament.

The four pools used for the 7th grade tournament are listed in the following tables. The header for each table lists the name of the pool and the location where all of the matches of the pool will take place. The team number beside each team can be used with the General Match Schedule above to determine when (approximately) pool matches for each team are to be played.

Because of the slightly smaller number of teams and the availability of two courts at the Bellaire High School venue, the bracket playoffs will be slightly different from the five-team brackets used in the 8th grade tournament held on 2009-09-12.

For the 7th grade teams playing on 2009-09-19, after the pool-play rounds described above have been completed, each team's final pool-play placement will be determined. The 3rd and 4th place teams within each pool will continue on to the appropriate venue (shown below) for the single-elimination Bronze and Copper bracket competitions respectively.

The 1st and 2nd place teams from each pool will move to Bellaire High School where they will be placed in a single crossover match with one of the other 1st or 2nd place finishers from another pool. The winners of the crossover matches will continue on to the single-elimination Gold bracket while the crossover match losers will continue play in the Silver Bracket. Specifics of the crossover matchups will be distributed on tournament day or at some later time on this website but the locations for all of the crossovers and bracket playoffs are included here:

Good luck to all of the teams. Play hard and have fun!
