In a formal ceremony last night, four Lady Cardinal Volleyball players were among Bellaire High School's National Honor Society inductees. Congratulations to Gianna Haskin, Elle Shaw, Ella Hawes and Makenzie McDonald (not pictured). When asked about these sophomores, Coach Ap Clarke said "The hard work they put into the classroom and how they handle themselves within our community are examples for all our players in the Bellaire Volleyball program. We are proud of you ladies!"
Membership is based on overall performance in Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. To be eligible for National Honor Society membership, a student must have at least a 3.50 grade point average and excellent conduct on and off campus. The National Honor Society uses a weighted scoring method to evaluate candidates for induction. The maximum points awarded for scholarship is 85; which is based upon the candidate's grade point average. Candidates can then be awarded up to 5 points for each of the key attributes: Leadership, Character and Service. Within the area of Character, students are rated on honestly, helpfulness, sincerity, reliability, and responsibilities. The areas of service and leadership are based upon what candidates demonstrate in the classroom, at work, in the community and through extracurricular school activities. Service points are awarded for community involvement and volunteer activities; while awards, honors and other types of recognition are considered within the Leadership category.
We are all very "Cardinal Proud" of the these 4 ladies who perform so well on and off the court!
