Congratulations Sundara Chinn, Bellaire Volleyball senior captain, on winning a USA Volleyball National Championship and being selected to the All-Tournament team.

This past weekend, Houston Juniors 18 Elite team, featuring Bellaire High's own Sundara Chinn, won the 18s USA Division at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships.  Sundara was selected to the GJNC's All-Tournament team for her outstanding performance as a right side hitter.

During her final high school season in 2015, as captain, Chinn led the Lady Cardinals to their best performance in the program history; with a Gold Bracket finish in the highly competitive and prestigious Texas Invitational Tournament, Spring Branch ISD Tournament Championship and a Texas State playoff run to the Regional Quarterfinals.

Chinn was named District 20-6A MVP after leading the Cardinals to a perfect undefeated 16-0, (48-0 sets) district record for the second consecutive season.   She earned Tournament MVP for leading the Lady Cardinals to their first ever, Spring Branch ISD Tournament Championship.   Post season Chinn was  named to the Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association Post Season Team as one of top volleyball players in the Houston Meto-area.   She also represented Bellaire on the GHVCA West All-Star Team with fellow Cardinal Travana Mathews.  She was recognized as the Houston Chronical's first "Player of the Week" in 2015; and later recognized by NBC affiliate KPRC as their "Star Athlete-of-The-Week" during post season play. Sundara Chinn was a two year starter and lettermen for the Lady Cardinals.

During the 2015 season, Chinn was Bellaire's most versatile volleyball player. In 93 sets; Chinn hit a stellar .311 putting down 333 kills, 60 aces and finishing among Bellaire's top three in blocks, digs and serves received. The six-foot, left-handed Chinn is a 6 rotation player who contributed in all phases of Bellaire High's volleyball program; including leadership. Bellaire Head Coach Clarke said, "Sundara makes my job look easy. She is so phenomenal in what she does. She is great in the classroom; but, even better on the court. She is a role model for other kids."

Sundara is will attend Tennessee Wesleyan in the fall and play right-side for the Lady Bulldogs.  This was Chinn's second trip to USAV Nationals, last year she competed within the 17s division on Houston Juniors 17 Elite team.

Well done Sundara!  We are #CardinalProud of you!
