WOW!  Leaving Bellaire High gym, each fan commented on how well both St Agnes and the Cardinals competed.  Thrilling volleyball was in the house!

The JV Cards fought hard but was not able to take a set from the Tigers 0-2 (21-25, 14-25).  Coach Martin said; "Played a close 1st game losing 21-25."  The JV battled the visiting Tigers from St Agnes in the second set; but, was challenged with inconsistent execution.  McKenna Compton lead the JV team with 9 kills. Gianna Haskins lead the serving attack with 7 points.  Way to battle JV!

After splitting sets in the Spring Branch tournament a day earlier, the varsity Tigers and Cardinals had become familiar foes.
Friday night, the gym on Maple Street was electric and hosted the most thrilling Bellaire volleyball game of the season so far.  The St Agnes Tigers brought their game and Bellaire was ready to answer the challenge.

In the first set Bellaire came out on fire, taking the first set from St Agnes (25-15).  Unfazed, St Agnes played determined and it took extra points for Bellaire take the second set (27-25).  St Agnes was not ready to go home.  The third match was a true battle with the Tigers just edging the Cardinals (29-31) in a great "never-give-up" effort.  The crowd at the Bellaire Gym was loud and rocking to begin the fourth set.  Coming off a hard fought win in the third set, St Agnes felt they now had the momentum.  But, Bellaire was vigilant; fighting for every point until victory came in overtime points again (27-25).  Go Cardinals!  With three sets going into extra points, it was a hard fought victory over a very solid St Agnes Tiger team 3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 29-31, 27-25).  Brianna Kelly led the team with 12 kills. Coach Clarke summed up the game "Great volleyball match."   And the fans certainly agreed with coach.
