Bellaire Volleyball clinches at least part of the 20-6A district championship with sweeping wins over the Sam Houston Tigers.

Freshmen
Thanks to Coach Martin’s good deed in returning a lost cell phone, the Cardinals were able to snag another charter bus. The extra room provided by a second bus was very much appreciated during the fight against Friday night's very heavy traffic over to Sam Houston High School.  The Cardinals arrived in time for just a few minutes to warm-up before the game.  But, it was all Bellaire from the get-go.  Our setters Mikaela Medina and Megan Hafer were really good about running the middle all game.  Annika Bohmann and Chelluh McGill took some great swings to keep Sam Houston out of system. Medina and Nadia Rasheed kept the ball on our side of the net with a slew of strong serves as the Freshmen cruised to an easy 25-7 win in the first set.  The second set started off a little bit slow.  The Cardinals traded points with Sam Houston for the first couple of minutes before Sydney Sizemore served a couple of aces to swing momentum back to the Lady Cardinals. Codi Fillmore, Toni Lott, Aryel Odomes, Annika Bohmann, and Madelyn Montgomery all banded together for multiple kills apiece to lead Bellaire to a 25-15 second set victory and sweep the Tigers.

JV
The JV team took the floor on a Tiger hunt.  The match was highlighted by how Bellaire's setters loaded the offense to deliver highlight reel kills and aces by the Cardinal front row.  Setters Libby Lorenz and Rachel Nolte orchestrated Bellaire's overwhelming offense.  Lorenz, delivered 9 assists and 8 aces while Nolte contributed 8 assists 2 aces of her own.  Notable contributors from the arsenal of Lady Cardinal hitters was Middle Mckenna Compton who led the team with 6 kills and 4 aces.  Making up the rest of the Lady Cardinals kill squad was Kate Salsky (3 kills), Elle Shaw (2 kills), Aryell Battles (2 kills) and Mary Lenz (2 kills). Gianna Haskin made 5 digs in deterring Tiger attacks.  The Bellaire JV Cardinals swept the Sam Houston Tigers in two sets, 25-8  25-1.

Varsity
On Saturday afternoon, the Varsity team traveled to the Pavilion and conducted a Tiger hunt of their own.  The Varsity squad equaled the performance of Bellaire's Freshmen and JV teams by sweeping Sam Houston in three sets 25-7, 25-5, 25-6.  The Tigers offered little challenge to a determined Cardinal team eager to clinch a share of the district title.  Coach Clarke was able to sit her starters for the majority of the match and deliver significant playing time throughout the varsity roster.  After the game Coach Clarke commented; "it was good to see improvement in players who have seen limited time in our competitions." "We took a step closer to one of our goals; but, we have to continue to stay focused and continue to improve if we want to take the next step forward."
