On the first Tuesday of the 20141 school year, the Bellaire Cardinals welcomed the Clear Lake Falcons to Maple Street.  The gym was filled with red and black colors and excited fans.

The Freshmen were first to take the court against the Falcons.  Coach Tomlinson commented; "It was a match featuring two very evenly-matched teams; but, Clear Lake was able to find our holes and shake up our defense. Our offense responded well; but, we came up just short."  Toni Lott recorded eight kills in a close 0-2  loss (21-25, 20-25).

The JV Lady Cardinals came to play and battle they did.  The match was highlighted by several long rallies but the Cards fell to the Falcons' JV team 0-2 (15-25, 21.25).

The Varsity took the floor with focus and determination.  Clear Lake has always challenged Bellaire and tonight was an opportunity to change that.  Bellaire took the first set handily.  The Cardinals attacks were crisp, clean and powerful.  In the second set, the Falcons challenged the home; but, not enough to change the outcome.  Bellaire won the second set is less dominate fashion.  Bellaire went for the kill in the third and deciding set; but, fell short of the goal.  The Clear Lake Falcons became very scrappy and took the third set.  The Cardinals regrouped in the fourth set; but, fatigue had taken the edge off the play as coach Clarke challenged her Cardinals for more energy.  The final set brought the very best from both teams.  But, in the end, Bellaire lost a very tight competitive fifth set 14-16.  The final was 2-3 (25-20, 25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 14-16).
