Freshman
The freshmen traveled to Chávez High School for their last game of the 2014 season. These Lady Cards jumped out to an early lead thanks to the strong serving of Mikaela Medina. A series of unforced Bellaire errors allowed Chávez to hang onto some hope of taking game one from the Cardinals.  But, while never in jeopardy of losing the game, the score was a lot closer than it should have been.  Though the Lobos came close, Annika Bohmann, Toni Lott, and Codi Fillmore stayed strong at the net and contributed multiple kills apiece in winning the first set 25-21.

The freshmen Cardinals settled down in game two and played the game they know how to play.  Chelluh McGill and Sharea Washington each pressed over the net for a key blocks. Madelyn Montgomery and Jaylynn Nunn both made big kills for the Cardinals. Erin Eby and Sydney Sizemore dominated the serving line and Toni Lott ended the season with a huge free ball kill.

What a way to finish the 2014 season!

When asked about the season, Coach Tomlinson said; "No complaints, going undefeated in district with the progress made from day one to the final day of the season was tremendous.  I could not have asked for a more spunky, hard-working, receptive, and fun group of players. And you can’t ask for much more than that!  I am so proud of the fight they displayed, especially in the big Lamar game. They make my job easy, probably because they truly wanted to better themselves. They never let making a mistake bring them down; rather, they would always see it as a step forward in getting better.   At the beginning of the season, they came out very timid, uncertain of one another, and without any sort of killer instinct.  As the season went on, they learned how to play together as a team, trusting one another, and motivating one another to dig themselves out of the holes. Coming back to win tells a lot more about the kind of girls I worked with than any stats could show. The season may be over, but there is still lots of work to be done, and I’m excited for off-season to watch these girls get better with each and every day!"

JV
After watching the Freshmen compete, the JV Lady Cards was ready to sweep the Lobos and they did not disappoint.  The JV Cardinals crushed Chávez in two sets 25-7, 25-9.  A strength of the JV club all season, setters Nolte and Lorenz continue to run the high performing JV squad.  This time, Rachel Nolte delivered 5 assists and 6 aces while Libby Lorenz contributed 3 assist, 3 aces and made 3 digs.  Gianna Haskin turned in a solid back row performance with 9 digs.  The highlight on the front line was Kate Salsky scoring with 8 aces and 5 kills.  Mary Lenz also stung the Lady Lobos with 4 kills.  A very solid outing by a very skilled JV squad.

Varsity
The Varsity Lady Cardinals entered the match against Chávez High ready to sweep the Lobos as they had earlier in the season.  The Lady Lobos were not about to let that happen again.  Chávez came out fighting and playing well with strong attacks and solid defensive play.  The Lady Lobos were full of fight early; but several key blocks and big swings from Maya Evans, Clair Smith and Travanna Matthews gave Bellaire the momentum to route Chávez in the first set 25-6.  In the second set, Coach Clarke watched a motivated middle blocker Kennadie Jake Turner, outside Jade Robinson and DS Nina Le play well enough to lead another route in the second set, 25-7.  In the final set, Coach Clarke ensured the entire Bellaire High varsity roster saw action against Chávez.  With the match never in jeopardy, the Lady Cardinals finished the Lady Lobos 25-15 clinching the 2014 District title.
