Bellaire will join 85 teams from across the State of Texas to compete in the nation’s largest high school volleyball tournament: 2014 Adidas Texas Volleyball Invitational.  Opening Ceremonies were held at Pearland High School Searcy Center Competition Gym where players met to kick off the tournament.  After the ceremonies, the Cardinals began pool play against Clear Falls, Decatur and Round Rock McNeil at at Berry Miller Jr High School's gym.

Bellaire was very competitive; but, inconsistent execution hampered the Cardinals; falling to Clear Falls (17-25, 22-25), taking Decatur to 3 sets (25-23, 18-25, 13-25) and submitting to Round Rock McNeil (17-25, 13-25).  Friday saw marked improvement with wins over Nederland 2-0 (25-21, 25-21) and Atascocita 2-1 (25-27, 25-13, 25-16).  The Cardinals returned to the court on Saturday morning to defeat San Antonio Brandies 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) before ending their tournament experience against Clear Lake 0-2 (18-25, 21-25).

Many players performed well as Brianna Kelly had the most kills (5) against the highly seeded Clear Falls team.  Sundara Chinn led the team by delivering the most kills in 4 of the 7 Pearland Tournament matches: 10 against the San Antonio Brandies, 7 against Round Rock McNeil, and 8 kills in each of the matches against Nederland and Clear Lake.  Claire Smith was the Cardinal's kill leader against Decatur with 8 and Atascocita with 10.  It's early in the season when the Pearland tournament offer great opportunities to try different rotations and test players against quality competition.
